A Piece of My Writing: End of NAAM and Thank You!

December 1, 2019
This Adoptee Life

NAAM is officially over, and I would like to take a moment to thank those who contributed to This Adoptee Life throughout the month.

The brave adoptees who sent me their stories to be shared.

Your courage and strength are amazing, and I am humbled and honored that you have chosen to entrust me with your story and sharing it. I take the confidence you put in me and This Adoptee Life extremely serious and know so well what a nerve-wracking feeling and experience it can be to put your story out there.
I hope you will have found that by telling your story you are owning your story. Be it anonymously, with part of your name or your full name and picture to accompany.

I appreciate your voices so very much and know that fellow adoptees are reading your words, finding validation, support, and comfort in your stories.

It shows them they are not alone.

I hope it shows you that you are not alone.
One of my main purposes with This Adoptee Life is to show that we are all in this together.

And by sharing your stories via This Adoptee Life, you are part of doing just that.
I hope you feel empowered, proud and strengthened in that knowledge.

So from the bottom of my heart and with all my soul, THANK YOU!

Some of the stories that I received will be shared as we move beyond NAAM as well.

I would also like to extend an enormous thank you and give credit where credit is due, which is to my husband. Not only is he there to listen to me, to support me, to let me bounce ideas, frustration, sadness, anger, tears, and excitement when I need to, but he is the one who made the entire re-launch of the blog possible at all. He spent hours and hours turning the blog from what it was before to what it is now. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are my everything.

And to each and every single one of you who spend time with me and This Adoptee Life, thank you!

For reading, for commenting, sharing, liking and connecting.

YOU are the reason I keep this blog going.

I hope you all feel it’s a safe space, and I am so glad you are all here.

Sending you all love as I take a few days to relax and re-charge after this emotionally busy month!

PS. We are all in this together!

Xo

I was adopted from Medellin, Colombia to Sweden in 1985. I was about a year and a half when I started my life as an adoptee, and it would take 32 years until I was ready to face what that means, what that has always meant, and what that will always mean.
