A Piece of My Writing: This One is for My Fellow Transnational Adoptee Brothers and Sisters from Colombia, and in Reaction to Watching “The Dark Side of Adoption” from the Show “The Traffickers”…

We rise, holding each other up

We are waking up, reaching out to our brothers and sisters

They are out there

We are out there

All those years ago we were no match

We went where you took us

We had no say in the matter

Today we want answers

Today we demand to be heard

We have the right to know

We rise, holding each other up

Our origin is in the same place on earth

Our stories are scattered all over the world

We are scattered all over the world

But we are rising, as we find each other

We are rising, as we are finding out the truth

Together we will hold each other up

You can no longer silence us

All the distance put in between us no longer matters

The fear of being abandoned is tamed

By an unconditional love from those who truly understand

Those who have lived the same experience

And those who have the same questions

We are rising, out of the silence, out of the shadows

We are no longer afraid to be noticed, to stand out, or to be heard

Today we know better than to be scared

Today we are too angry to be scared

Today we are too heartbroken to be scared

We are rising, united, and we will come for answers

You cannot ignore our call anymore

We are the lost children of Colombia

You removed us from our home

But we rise, and as we hold each other up

We WILL find our way back home

Colombia, we will come home.
